Nameri National Park is a Eastern Himalayan range of forests located in the Sonitpur District of Assam. This National Park was world famous since the colonial era for its golden masheer fish(called as “The Tigers of the Himalayan Rivers”) found in the Jia Bhorali river running through the National Park. Nameri is also the only National Park in India where you are allowed to trek with armed forest guards as companies. Tourist visiting can come across animals like tiger, leopard, sambar, Asiatic wild dogs, clouded leopards, barking deer, Indian bison, sloth bear, Himalayan black bears etc. The season starts from November to April.
