Description
This is the trip where travellers move around the mountain range of Northeast India. A trip to rolling hills of Shillong for which Europeans calls it “Scotland of the East”. Shillong is the Capital of Meghalaya which literally means “the abode of the clouds”. Thereafter, the visit to “Dawn-Lit Mountains “ of neighbouring state, Arunachal Pradesh (the Orchid State of India). The Tour ends with a relaxing stay and safari at the National Park of Kaziranga in Assam. It is a World Heritage Site and is the home of the two-thirds of world one horn rhino population.

ROUTE: GUWAHATI – SHILLONG – KAZIRANGA – BOMDILA – TAWANG – DIRANG – TEZPUR – GUWAHATI
Itinerary
1
Day 1: GUWAHATI AIRPORT – SHILLONG (130 KMS / 3 ½ hrs drive)
- Arrive Guwahati airport and drive to Shillong (140 kms / 4 hrs drive approx).Arrive Guwahati airport and drive to Shillong (140 kms / 4 hrs drive approx).
- En route visit the breathtaking view of “Umiam Lake” or “Barapani Lake” (see image)- which is the biggest artificial lake in Meghalaya and is surrounded by hills dotted with Khasi Pine trees.
- Check-in the designated Hotel and after refreshment travellers can opt for a visit to the Cathedral of Mary and Ward’s Lake.
- Evening is a free period of leisure to explore the region on own. The residents are very friendly and welcoming. You may take a walk to the famous Police Bazaar for shopping of famous leather goods items or traditional artifacts.
- Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 2 SHILLONG – CHERRAPUNJEE – SHILLONG (60 KMs / 2 hrs)
- After breakfast drive to Mawlynnong Village known as the cleanest village in Asia and the God’s own Garden. On arrival, visit the Living Root Bridge, a natural bridge formed with the roots of the trees. A little hiking is required to see the magnificent bridge (hiking approx 1 hour). Then visit the balancing rock, a small stone holding a big rock by balancing it on above it and the Tree House (watch tower) made by the local people of the village. Later visit Bangladesh border.
- Return back to Shillong for overnight stay
Note: Most of the waterfalls are dry during winter season.

Day 3 SHILLONG – BHALUKPONG (350 kms / 7 ½ hrs)
Full day excursion visit to Cherrapunjee (56kms/2hrs) – at Cherrapunjee visit the Mawsmai caves, the Nokhalikai Falls before returning to Shillong and enroute visiting the Shillong Peak and the Elephant Falls. Overnight at Shillong.

Day 4 Shillong – Kaziranga (Assam) (253 Kms / 6 ½ hrs)
- After breakfast proceeding to Kaziranga On the way visit Umium lake, to reach in the evening. Overnight at hotel. For 2 nights

Day 5 Kaziranga
- Full day at Kaziranga – to enjoy elephant safaris and jeep safaris in the National Park (From May till October only Joy Ride on elephant, jeep rides on the outer fringes of the park). Overnight at hotel

Day 6: Kaziranga – Dirang (Arunachal) (246 Kms / 6 ½ hrs)
- After early breakfast proceeding to Dirang- enroute complete the Inner Line Permit (ILP) formalities at Bhalukpung .Enjoy scenic views, Reach Dirang in the evening and stay overnight in a hotel.

Day 7: Dirang –Tawang (Arunachal) (129 Kms /4
½ hrs)
- After early breakfast proceeding to Tawang – enroute drive past the Sela Pass at 13,700 ft – the second highest motorable road in India.Enjoy hot lunch at Militry canteen & shopping at Militry camp.Stop at Jaswant Garh to pay homage to the brave soldiers of the 1962 Indo-China aggression. Reach Tawang in the evening and stay for 03 nights.

Day 8: TAWANG
- Full day at Tawang visiting the Monasteries, the craft centre, the war memorial and the local market during the day. Overnight.

Day 9: TAWANG
- After early breakfast drive to Ptso Lake (Madhuri Lake) on the northen side and subject to availability of permit from the local administration/army and weather conditions drive upto Bumla on the Indo-China border. Return to Tawang in the evening and stay overnight.

Day 10: Tawang – Bomdila (Arunachal) (171 Kms / 6 hrs)
- After early breakfast proceeding to Bomdila , Enroute visit Sela pass & enjoy scenic beauty of the Road journey, enjoy hot lunch at Military canteen & enjoy shopping at military camp Reach in the evening and check in at hotel.

Day 11: Bomdila – Tezpur (Assam) (153 Kms / 4 hrs)
- After early breakfast proceeding to Tezpur via Bhalukpong & enjoy local villages view, reach in the evening and check in at hotel.

Day 12: Tezpur – Guwahati (Assam) (185 Kms / 4 hrs)
- After breakfast drive to Guwahati via North Guwahati. Visit Sualkuchi village and Hajo Temple. Overnight. Evening cruise on the Brahmaputra river.

Day 13: After breakfast drive to airport and depart for onward destination.
- Time permitting visit Kamakhya Temple and shop for souveniers.
