The trip is one of a kind diverse mix trip that includes hiking in the most scenic trails of Meghalaya, to the enchanting elephant ride and jeep safari in the National Parks of Assam to share a moment with the majestic one horned rhino, squeal with joy rafting in the mild rapids, pay homage to the one of the unique and oldest ruling dynasties in Asia-the Ahom Dynasty and their monuments, walk down lanes of history visiting the dome shaped pyramid like burial grounds of the Ahom royals, mix and take a feel of being one of the different tribes living in this area and experience their food and culture, refresh yourself in the land of world famous tea with a traditional cup of Singpho Tea, brewed and served in an unique and traditional way and to take with yourself a memory browse among the various world renowned silk products-the Muga Silk, the Pat silk and the Eri silk of the Assam Silk Industry.

Itinerary

1

Day 1: GUWAHATI – SHILLONG

  • Arriving at Guwahati airport you will be received and transferred to Shillong, capital of Meghalaya (100 kms / 2 ½ hrs drive).Arriving at Guwahati airport you will be received and transferred to Shillong, capital of Meghalaya (100 kms / 2 ½ hrs drive).
  • En route stop at the scenic view point of the Umiam lake, the largest manmade lake in Northeast India.(see image)• Reach Shillong and check into hotel, after refreshment explore the local night markets of Shillong.
  • Overnight in Shillong.Shillong is the capital and hill station of Meghalaya, also known as “The Abode of Clouds”, one of the smallest states in India. It is the headquarters of the East Khasi Hills district and is situated at an average altitude of 4,908 feet above sea level, with the highest point being Shillong Peak at 6,449 feet. It is said that the rolling hills around the town reminded the European settlers of Scotland. Hence, they would also refer to it as the “Scotland of the East”

Day 2 SHILLONG – CHERRAPUNJEE

  • Today we will drive to Mawphlang Scared forest ( 35 kms / 02 hrs drive), then we will start on a trek known as “David Scott Trail” for 06 hrs, Today we will drive to Mawphlang Scared forest ( 35 kms / 02 hrs drive), then we will start on a trek known as “David Scott Trail” for 06 hrs,
  • After reaching a palce called Mawladh, you will be picked up and taken to Cherrapunjee.
  • Spend the evening at leisure and overnight stay.

Day 3 CHERRAPUNJEE

  • After breakfast set off on a trek to Nongriat village, a Khasi village situated at the bottom of a deep valley. After breakfast set off on a trek to Nongriat village, a Khasi village situated at the bottom of a deep valley.
  • En route meet the welcoming friendly local Khasi villagers in Mawshamok, Tyrna, Umsohphie and Nongthymmai.
  • Visit the longest Living Root Bridge, Double Decker Root Bridge and go for a swim in Natural Swimming Pools. It is a trek of about 3 to 4 hours.
  • In the evening participate in a get together and cultural interaction with the villagers of Nongriat.

Day 4 CHERRAPUNJEE – MAWLLYNNONG – SHILLONG

  • Today after breakfast we drive to Mawlynnong (110 km / 02 ½ hrs drive).Today after breakfast we drive to Mawlynnong (110 km / 02 ½ hrs drive).
  • Explore the village and also trek for 10 min to visit the Single Decker Living Root Bridge in Riwai village.
  • Return back to Shillong and overnight stay. Mawlynnong/Mawlynnong Village located in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, also referred as ‘God’s own garden’ (see image) has won the acclaim of being the cleanest village in Asia in 2003. The village known for its cleanliness is located around 90 kms from Shillong and is a community based eco-tourism initiative. The community has made collective effort to maintain the ambience of a clean village. The village offers picturesque natural beauty, a trek to the living root bridge at a neighbouring village Riwai. The village also offers a sight of natural balancing rock, a strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock. The adage “Neighbours envy, owners pride’ is apt for Mawlynnong as it has earned the distinction of being one of the cleanest villages in Asia, a fact that every Mawlynnong villager is proud of and other villagers are envy of.The village is quite pretty, especially in the monsoons when there is lush greenery all around, with waterfalls paving the way to small streams and abundance of flowering orchids dangling from the trees and hedges add to the beauty of the village.

Day 5 SHILLONG – GUWAHATI

Today after a leisurely breakfast drive to Guwahati, explore local sightseeing in and around Guwahati and overnight stay.

Day 6: GUWAHATI – MANAS NATIONAL PARK

  • Today we will drive to Sualkuchi village – 30 kms , explore the village and learn the Silk weaving culture of Assam, Sualkuchi is known as Silk Bowl of Assam.Today we will drive to Sualkuchi village – 30 kms , explore the village and learn the Silk weaving culture of Assam, Sualkuchi is known as Silk Bowl of Assam.
  • After that you will be transferred to Manas National Park (220 km / 04 ½ hrs drive).
  • Upon reaching Manas, check into hotel and spend theevening at leisure.
  • Overnight stay at Manas.

Day 07: MANAS NATIONAL PARK

  • Return back to lodge and after breakfast and refreshment go for a walk into nearby villages and also visit a Tea Garden.
  • Later after lunch go for a Jeep safari in the Mathunguri Range of the park, spend around 4-5 hours inside the Manas National Park.
  • Return back to lodge and overnight stay.

Day 8: MANAS – NAMERI

  • Today after breakfast drive to Nameri National Park (325 km / 07 hrs drive), reach Nameri and check into lodge, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: NAMERI

  • Return back to Eco Camp and after having breakfast and refreshment go for a gentle boat ride in rubber dinghies in Jia Bhoreli River flowing along the national park ( 02 ½ hrs on the river).
  • Afternoon you are free at leisure or after lunch and refreshment go for a village walk in nearby villages.
  • Overnights stay in Eco Camp.

Day 10: NAMERI – KAZIRANGA

  • Today after breakfast you will be driven to Kaziranga National Park (100 km / 2 hrs drive) Today after breakfast you will be driven to Kaziranga National Park (100 km / 2 hrs drive)
  • Upon reaching Kaziranga, check into hotel and spend the evening at leisure.
  • Overnight stay at Kaziranga.

Day 11: KAZIRANGA

  • Today you will go for safaris and elephant ride inside the national park.   • Return back to the lodge and after breakfast go for a Jeep Safari (timing slots  8:00 AM / 9:00 AM) for 03 hrs, after the safari come back to lodge.
  • After lunch and refreshment go for another Jeep Safari in the Western/ Central range of the park (timing slots 2:00PM / 3:00 PM) for 02 ½ hrs ( also depending on the sunset as in winters the sun sets early in Northeast India).
  • Spend the evening at leisure and overnight stay at Kaziranga.

Day 12: KAZIRANGA – MAJULI – JORHAT

  • After breakfast drive to Nimatighat (Jorhat) (104 km / 3 hrs) and enjoy a ferry ride to Majuli.After breakfast drive to Nimatighat (Jorhat) (104 km / 3 hrs) and enjoy a ferry ride to Majuli. MAJULI – Recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest river island in the world, this island is a treasure of cultural heritage of the region. The founder of ‘Eka Naam Dharma’ Srimanta Shankardeva took shelter in Majuli in the Fifteenth Century and ever since that Majuli has emerged as the crowning glory of Vaishnavaite culture in Assam. Majuli has a unique treasure of natural and cultural attractions. A melting point of various tribes, Majuli is multifaceted in its attractions that unfurls to its vanity are the rare migratory birds like Adjutant Stork, Pelican, Siberian Crane, etc., traditional handicrafts and pottery,  the Mask – craft, ethnic culture and colorful festivals. This is also India’s first “Island District”.
  • At Majuli visit Kamalabari Satra, Garmur Satra and Auni Ati Satra. Afternoon enjoy the traditional Satriya dance (Gayan Bayan).
  • Later journey back to Jorhat for an overnight stay at a Heritage Tea Bungalow.

Day 13: JORHAT – SIBSAGAR – DIBRUGARH

  • After breakfast drive to Dibrugarh (135 km / 03 ½ hrs).
  • Enroute sightseeing at SIBSAGAR which was once the capital of the Ahom Kings. The Shans who came from Thailand through Northern Myanmar to this area in early 13th century, ruled for 600 years. The Siva Temple, built by the Ahoms, situated here is believed to be the tallest of all existing Hindu temples. The ruins of the Ahom palaces and monuments dot the landscape around this historical town. Centuries, before the arrival of the British, this part of the world was controlled by a number of tribal chieftains. In the town of Sivasagar, one can still see the remaining well preserved relics. The largest and the oldest ampi-theatre of Asia (Rang Ghar) is also another remarkable landmark in the history of Sivasagar. The Tai- Ahom Museum of Sivsagar contains some of the relics of the Ahom period like – swords, clothes, manuscripts and sundry artifacts
  • Lunch en route and after reaching Dibrugarh you will be transferred to a hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 14: DIBRUGARH

  • Today after breakfast we drive to Tinsukia (45 kms) and further to Ketatong (55 kms) and visit the Singpho village of Ketatong. Today after breakfast we drive to Tinsukia (45 kms) and further to Ketatong (55 kms) and visit the Singpho village of Ketatong. Singphos are a tribe belonging to the Kachin of Burma and are ethnically related to the Jingpo of China. It is said that the English learnt about tea from the Singpho tribe and introduced the beverage to in India. Also visit the Organic tea garden of the Singpho people and explore the famous Organic Tea of the Singpho Tribes who do all by their hand and which is being practiced for many years.
  • After that we will visit the Digboi War Cemetery (British Cemetery), thereafter drive back to Dibrugarh.
  • Continue with overnight stay at Dibrugarh.

Day 15: DIBRUGARH – FLY

  • Today after breakfast drive to Dibrugarh airport for onward destination.
